Applications of the four-wave transverse shear interference (FIS4) technique in germ cell detection may include the following:

1. Morphological evaluation of germ cells: FIS4 technique can be used to evaluate morphological characteristics of sperm and egg. For sperm, this includes the shape and size of the head and the structure of the midsection and tail, which are all important indicators of sperm health and function.
